The 2014 Effie Effectiveness Index rankings have been released. On the regional level, Unilever, McDonald’s, Omnicom, BBDO Worldwide, Lowe Lintas Mumbai and Barnes, Catmur & Friends top the chart for the Asia Pacific region this year.
The Effie Index identifies and ranks the most effective agencies, marketers, brands, networks, and holding companies by analysing finalist and winner data from Effie competitions around the world. Announced annually, it is the most comprehensive global ranking of marketing effectiveness.
The Asia Pacific rankings look at all the Effie programmes in the region, which include the APAC Effie and the 9 national programmes in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Korea, Singapore and Sri Lanka.
The top 3 advertisers in Asia Pacific maintains, but with a slight shuffle in each of their positions from previous year’s ranking. Unilever takes the crown to be the Most Effective Advertiser this year, taking the place of Coca-Cola which led in 2013, whereas McDonald’s climbs to the second position.
McDonald’s leads the chart as the Most Effective Brand in Asia Pacific, followed by Hungry Jack’s and NRMA Insurance. Whilst McDonald’s has been a commonly sighted on the top positions, the latter both are appearing on the chart for the first time this year.
Omnicom claims the top ranking for the Most Effective Holding Company, followed by WPP Group and Interpublic (IPG) as the second and third respectively – a swap in positions between Omnicom and WPP from 2013.
Amongst the Agency Network, also a switch in top 2 rankings from 2013, BBDO Worldwide now is ranked the Most Effective Agency Network in 2014, followed very closely by Ogilvy & Mather with a mere 1-point difference. Lowe & Partners moves up the chart, taking the third spot this year.
The Most Effective Agency Office for Asia Pacific goes to Lowe Lintas (Mumbai), which has performed very well to record a significant jump from 2013’s ranking (number 7). Ogilvy & Mather (Mumbai) and Colenso BBDO/Proximity New Zealand follow in the second and third places respectively.
Barnes, Catmur & Friends (Auckland) maintains its spot as the Most Effective Independent Agency in Asia Pacific. The second place is taken by Amber Communications from Shanghai. DAEHONG Communication (Seoul) and One Green Bean (Australia) share the third position, with the same number of points awarded.
