With the upcoming release of the 2014 Effie Effectiveness Index global rankings by Effie Worldwide in June 2014, we thought there will be no better time than now that we take a look back at the year’s Effie Programmes in the Asia Pacific region.
1 regional programme (APAC Effie) and 9 national programmes (Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka) - all of these contribute equally to the rankings.
The Effie Effectiveness Index identifies and ranks the marketing communications industry’s most effective agencies, marketers and brands by analyzing finalist and winner data from worldwide Effie Award competitions. The 2014 ranking will include Effie programmes which have held their gala and announced the results between June 14, 2013 and June 13, 2014.
We did a quick review on the Grand Effie winners from the 10 Effie Programmes in Asia Pacific over the pass one year period, but before that, let’s recap the most effective companies ranked on the 2013 Effie Effectiveness Index for the Asia Pacific region:

Effie Australia 2013 | Whybin\TBWA Sydney was honoured as Effie Australia 2013 Effective Agency of the Year, taking away not only the Grand Effie, but 2 Golds, 2 Silvers and 3 Bronzes. Notably, 4 out of these were contributed by NRMA Insurance “Car Creation” campaign.
Clemenger BBDO Sydney, another huge winner, clinched 5 Golds for the Hungry Jack’s “Shaking Up the Category and Winning”. |
Effie China 2013 | Big winners included Publicis Shanghai, taking away 3 Golds and 3 Bronzes; and Lintas China (Beijing) with 3 Golds and 1 Bronze.
Grand Effie went to Socialab and Coca-Cola’s campaign “Nickname Bottle Summer Campaign”. |
Effie Malaysia 2013 | The top winning agency was M&C Saatchi which went away with 1 Gold and 1 Bronze. |
Effie New Zealand 2013 | DDB Group was honoured the 2013 Effie New Zealand Most Effective Agency of the Year Awards, with a tally of 1 gold, 2 silver and 8 bronze. Following behind in the ranking are Colenso BBDO/Proximity New Zealand and DraftFCB New Zealand.
DraftFCB New Zealand’s and Health Promotion Agency’s “The Journal: Three Years of Changing Behaviour & Saving Lives” also won them a Grand Effie.

Effie India 2013 | Effie India 2013 Agency and Client of the Year were respectively awarded to Lowe Lintas and Partners and Hindustan Unilever Limited.
Grand Effie went to Ogilvy & Mather India and Hindustan Unilever Limited’s Lifebuoy Soap campaign “Lifebuoy Roti Campaign”. |

Effie Korea 2014 | HS Ad and Korean Air’s Europe destination campaign, “What’s to love about Europe?” was presented the Grand Effie.
HS Ad also picked up another Gold Award on top of the Grand Effie. Other notable winners included Cheil, Post-Visual and Innocean which each went away with 2 awards. |
Effie Hong Kong 2014 | OMD Hong Kong led with the highest number of win this year. Other names commonly sighted on the winners list included DDB Group Hong Kong, Havas Worldwide Hong Kong, Leo Burnett Limited, Ogilvy & Mather Advertising Hong Kong.
Grand Effie was awarded to “From CNY to WNY: Making the Most of the New Year” by DDB Group Hong Kong, OMD Hong Kong and McDonald’s. |
Effie Singapore 2014 | DDB Group Singapore and OMD Singapore led the charge, taking home 6 awards each. |
